Yacht with No Sails or Working Engine in Solent Emergency

13th May 2017

A yacht minus its usual sails had to reach safety with the help of Cowes RNLI lifeboat when its engine broke down in mid-Solent this afternoon.

The Moody 28 masthead sloop, with four people on board, radioed UK Coastguards for assistance between Beaulieu River and Gurnard while on passage to Bucklers Hard. The lifeboat towed the yacht to Trinity Landing, Cowes.

Having been launched at 3.25 pm, the lifeboat returned to station at 4.45 pm.
