Cowes RNLI Lifeboat Station

Stormy Stan Becomes a Cowes Week Attraction

8th August 2016

Passengers on a cross-Solent car ferry saw what was, quite literally, a larger than life crew member aboard the local lifeboat, as their ship passed through Cowes Harbour.

The RNLI’s famous mascot, Storm Stan, had arrived in town to be part of the charity’s promotional activity during Cowes Week.

Stormy Stan will be seen at various locations in Cowes during the regatta, including aboard the Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Sheena Louise, when available for public viewing on the station’s slipway.

Over this period the station’s regular visits team is boosted by ‘meet-and-greet’ personnel especially drafted in by the RNLI’s Poole headquarters. The aim of everyone is to make a tour of the station at least as memorable as all the other Cowes Week attractions, while at the same time enhancing the appreciation of the sterling work of an organisation dedicated to saving lives at sea.
