Luck Briefly Runs Out in the River Medina for White Heather

14th November 2016

Although white heather is supposed to be lucky this did not prove to be the case for a racing yacht of that name in the River Medina this evening, with the result that Cowes RNLI lifeboat was tasked by HM Coastguard to go to its aid.

The 38 foot White Heather, with a couple and their dog aboard, had gone aground near Kingston, East Cowes.

However, when the lifeboat arrived on the scene shortly after 6pm the yacht had already refloated on a rising tide. All the lifeboat crew had to do was to advise the couple to tie up overnight at Kingston Landing.

White Heather was back in luck again……….
