Emma joined the station in June 2015, having stopped for a friendly chatter with the crew as they were about to launch the lifeboat. At the time, she had just moved to the Island with her young daughter, from an isolated village on the west coast of Wales where she had been a crew member on the Borth Lifeboat – her daughter regularly helped out at the station and was crowned RNLI Carnival Queen in summer 2014.

Emma originally trained as an animation film-maker, but spent 20 years travelling around the world, managing international strategy for some big-brand UK universities. She now works in research development.
