Mark Southwell Hugh Robotham Steve Dines
LOM DLA DLA
Mark joined the station shortly after its RNLI founding in July 2008. After 30 years in HM Customs and 25 years stationed around the Solent, Mark has a very detailed knowledge of the waters between Selsey Bill and Weymouth. He was a Customs Patrol Launch Commander and an instructor teaching rib and launch crews locally and co-ordinated national advanced rib training. He is deeply involved in sailing in Cowes and Gurnard SC in particular. In 2001 I was invited to join Cowes Inshore Lifeboat as I had been covering safety boat duties at Gurnard Sailing Club and also progressed to Powerboat Instructor for the club. As part of Cowes Inshore I helped with training, took my VHF, first aid & Day Skipper, trained as helm and served on the committee. When Cowes Inshore became part of the RNLI I continued as crew member for one year, standing as Sea Safety Officer. It is great to be involved with a service that helps people afloat and serves the community in which I have grown up.

Harry Leslie Dave Lewis Paul Brace
DLA & LTC DLA Mechanic
Harry joined the station in 2008 upon his (early!) retirement from HM Coastguard, where he was a Principal Inspector. He has a wealth of knowledge, having represented the UK at the International Maritime Organisation on various issues of Search and Rescue and Vessel Tracking and was a member of the IALA eNav committee. Prior to this he was Operations Manager for the area from Beachy Head to Exeter. He has also been a training consultant at the MCA Training Centre, where he studied for his CIPD Certificate in Teaching Practice. He was awarded the Chief Coastguards Commendation for the co-ordination of the rescue of 156 people during an incident. He gives his interests as; working on his allotment, offshore sailing, cooking and launching lifeboats. Inshore Lifeboat crew, Paul was promoted to Bosun and held a position on the Cowes Inshore Lifeboat Management team. As the lifeboat came under the management of the RNLI in July 2008, Paul became Station Mechanic. Paul also served on the RNLI boat as crew until December 2008. Pauls interests include cruiser motorcycles and vintage 1950's/60's motorbikes. Paul is head powerboat instructor at Gurnard Sailing Club.

George Chastney Anne Dines Kate Ramsey
Press Officer Treasurer LMA
George Chastney, is no stranger to scribbling for the media. Newspaper journalist virtually all his working life, freelancing for radio and television, and eight years as the Isle of Wight Council's public affairs manager. Writing for and to the media is what it has nearly always been about for this chap. When he retired in 2003 he was persuaded join the then independent station as press officer - the high point of which was when he made a fund-raising film about the Island's four independent lifeboat stations. George is always there waiting for the crews return, be it 3pm or 3am. Anne joined the Lifeboat as Treasurer, when the RNLI took over responsibility from Cowes Inshore. I joined because my husband Steve, was on the crew and I wanted to help and be involved in what was a very exciting time for the Lifeboat. I work for Cowes Harbour Commission, in the accounts department, this means I am very involved in what is happening on the water in Cowes and find that it fits in very well with my role as Treasurer. I was an army doctor until 2005, retired to civilian general practice and moved to the Isle of Wight with my family in order to sail as much as possible. Now a part time GP in Carisbrooke I try to fit in crew medicals and support medical training for the station in my spare time. A great team and a privilege to serve.
