Carl Stopforth

Carl joined the station in early 2016, his family has ties with the sea going back generations, so as he has the time between jobs, he wanted to take the opportunity to ‘do his bit’ for the charity that saves lives at sea.

By day, Carl is a senior level Programme Manager in Engineering, and enjoys running, mountain biking, fixed wing flying, horse riding, motorcycling and safety boating at his local Sailing Club!

Interestingly, Carl worked on the development of the first cordless kettle interfaces to be manufactured in the UK. Once, he was in a cycling road race with Chris Boardman when he was still an amateur, having seen how fast he was riding, Carl realised his dream to becoming a professional was not going to be easy, so he took up motorcycling instead!
