Welcome to the website of Cowes RNLI Lifeboat.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is the charity that saves lives at sea.
It provides a 24-hour on-call service to cover search and rescue (SAR) requirements on inland waters, beaches the River Thames and out to 100 nautical miles from the coast of the United Kingdom and Ireland.
This site is our way of thanking, informing and updating all the supporters whose generosity makes our work possible.
Cowes Lifeboat is one of the dedicated Search and Rescue resources for The Solent, that covers the area between Yarmouth and Ryde; these are approximate bounds, dependent on tidal conditions and other SAR resources, Cowes Lifeboat has been deployed outside these bounds but its work is largely carried out well within them.
We also take part in exercises. If you would like to see the lifeboat launch on exercise, the Sheena Louise can usually be seen coming down the slipway at about 1930 on a Thursday Evening.
